I Think You Would Be Proud

I think you would be proud,
The party we threw was so loud.
Oh you should have seen the love,
For you my darling, we went beyond and above.

You hitchhiked to heaven in a hurry,
Leaving behind the pieces of you.
I remember you told us not to worry.
For we’ll catch up and skip the queue.

But you’d never bow beneath their holy decree,
Your standards soared beyond their sky.
You’ll create a new haven where together we’ll be free.
With the dress code, a mix of nude and black tie.

Soon I’ll follow you and bring all the past,
Two rented vans full, the cats and the cars.
I’ll even bring the whiskey from Belfast,
The one in daytime that made you see stars.

Until then I’ll keep your memories warm
And try not to run out of tears.
The world misses you, it cries through wind and storm,
Echoing my grief in all the coming years.

But I think you would be proud
To have created a silence so loud.
I just wish you could see,
This silence stands where you should be.
